23rd Annual Black & White Ball - What a Blast!!

AFAN (Aid for AIDS of Nevada) hosted the 23rd Annual Black & White Party at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Saturday night (8.22.09), giving people a great reason to party for a cause and join the fight against HIV/AIDS. While the weather moved the party indoors to The Joint, that didn’t stop more than 2,800 people to show up dressed fashionably in black and white. The party raised more than $100,000 for the organization.

Hosted by AFAN and partner and main sponsor, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, the 23rd Annual Black & White Party presented a hip, new style with the support of Baskow & Associates. The non-stop entertainment line-up included: the mash-up of renowned DJ Axis; celebrity impersonators including Cher and Tina Turner; live performances by international entertainer and guitarist, Charo as well as Pepper MaShay, singer best known for her hit, “Dive in the Pool” featured in the Showtime drama series soundtrack, Queer as Folk. Celebrity appearances included congresswoman, Shelley Berkley and Las Vegas headliners such as Hooters Casino Hotel’s Men of X, Flamingo Hotel’s X Burlesque, impersonator Frank Marino, comedian Nathan Burton and longtime AFAN supporters Penn & Teller.

Guests were treated to tastings from some of Las Vegas’ premier restaurants, including: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s own AGO, Rare 120 and Pink Taco; The Cupcakery; PF Chang’s; Sushi Roku; BOA Steakhouse; The Cookie Zoo and more. Ice bars were hosted by various liquor sponsors, such as Ketel One and Montecristo Rum. Black and white furnishings were complemented by hot pink accents.
