seriously though, is there any need for nanos or ipods if these new candybar/smartpda iphones come out? I mean what's the advantage of having two devices (phone & ipod) when you can just have the one - most likely cheaper - so is this the death of the ipod?

the 'what's new' page says "Work with RAW images from more than 50 camera models, including the Fuji S2, Fuji S3 Pro, and Sony A100." but i don't know which ones exactly .. i know the Fujis are new because i have the S9000/9500 which is still not supported and it didn't support any Fujis before

Yes but you do not need to use it as a physical button.
You can use the MacBook 100% without EVER clicking the physical button.
The trackpad can be setup in System Preferences to respond to a touch as a click rather than a physical click. That is the way I have used it from days one and I have no issues with it at all.
Yeah, but it's important to some of us to have that physical click, which is why I love the trackpad. I can get a tactile response from anywhere on it. That's also necessary for a phone or iPod for me, and I'm sure it's true for thousands of other users.

iOS evolution from 1 to 4 is somewhat disappointing. It has become somewhat stale, especially for the iPad. Hopefully iOS 5 is a big leap forward.
Yeah, it seems like they only make enough improvements to stay in the game, and aren't super interested in really mind-blowing advances. It's the little things that count for sure, but for all the hype you'd think we'd get something mind-boggling every once in a while.

Yet these are the machines of choice when price is no object and the job must get done. Just think about this: these boards are filled with laments that effectively tell you that you need substaintially higher clock speeds to run a computer game than you need to simulate the gas flow in a jet engine. Don't you think that something is just a bit warped here?

The reason they are used is for this feature alone - and yepI would rather run my simulations on a sparc box than a pc, although the cost of a cheap linux box is pushing us down that route. Is it possible Apple could release the final version with the option to initialize a drive with ZFS prior to install? Everything I have read about ZFS seems to point to it as a next logical step for Apple's OS.

Hmmm..., well, you don't mention which OS you are running, but I'll assume OS X, so if that is the case, the OS should recognixe the drive. I only say this because I replaced a DVD-ROM in a Pismo Powerbook with the Combo drive that comes in an iBook, and the OS recognized the drive fine. The optical drives in a tower all share the same connectors on newer machines, but I can't speak towards an 450 AGP because I never owned one. I've switched several drives in a G4 733 Digital Audio, and never had any problems. The only thing I would suggest is after installation, you make sure to download the latest Apple firmware for the Pioneer '05 model.
