1 of 3 Men In South Africa Rapist

Based on the results of a recent survey, more than a third of South African men have raped a woman at one time in their lives. Survey of the Medical Research Council funded by the government and received support from non-profit organization Gender Links, showed that 37.4% men in the Gauteng province had committed rape. While 25.3% of women claimed to have been raped.

National survey last year which claimed more than a quarter of South African men claimed to have raped women. A Medical Research Council researcher, Rachel Jawkes said that they were surprised with the results of the survey which is higher than last year.

Researchers interviewed 487 men and 511 women in Gauteng, the second most populous province. Respondents were 90% black and 10% white, representing the demographics of the city.
