Suicide Live On The Internet

On Wednesday (11/10/2010), a number of media in Japan reported that a man committed suicide live on the internet after fierce fighting with other Internet users who challenged him to die.

Shimbunria Daily Yomiuri reported, 24-year-old man from the city of Sendai in northern Japan was found dead Tuesday morning in his apartment by local police, who received reports from Internet users.

Meanwhile, the daily Sankei Shimbun, the man, who lived alone, had taken an extended sick leave from work since last August and have been posting complaints about his work.

The man began to broadcast pictures of him on the Ustream live streaming service, Sunday night. He announced his plans to kill himself and discuss his views on life. After a pause, broadcasting re-emerged Tuesday morning and he seemed to hang himself in his apartment at around 05.30 am local time.

His broadcast was receiving many messages, some Internet users to encouraged him to commit suicide quickly, others urged him to not make plans. Ustream stop the broadcast after 06.00 on Tuesday, following reports of an increasing number of viewers.

You should know that Japan has the highest suicide rates in the world. Last year more than 32,000 recorded cases of deaths from suicide.
